February 22, 2008 Ducati North America Introduces Superbike
at Barber Motorsports Park
(Birmingham, Ala.) – Ducati North America introduced the much anticipated 1098 R Superbike to the U.S. on Monday at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL. Select journalists, as well as five-time Daytona 200 winner and former AMA / World Superbike champion Scott Russell, were invited to test the most advanced and most powerful twin-cylinder street legal motorcycle ever built during Ducati’s North American launch of the bike.
“Ducati is delighted to have the 1098 R Superbike stateside and on track this week,” said John Canton, Media Relations Manager for Ducati N.A. “The flagship of our Superbike family is closer to its racing siblings than ever before, so it was an easy decision to introduce the bike in its element – the racetrack.”
Originally unveiled in November of 2007 at the EICMA International Motorcycle Exhibition, limited quantities of the Ducati Superbike will be available in the U.S. in March.
“As the recognized leader in Superbike technology, we’re thrilled to have Ducati debut such an incredible machine at the Barber facility,” said Clark Virden of ZOOM Motorsports, the exclusive promoter and event management company for the Barber Motorsports Park. “It’s a real treat to see this bike flow and power through the turns here, and we appreciate Ducati using this beautiful Park as the backdrop for their launch.”
